Secretary Desiree Rogers To Resign

Today, the White House social secretary Desiree Rogers decides to resign three months after the incident happened to Obama and his administration in November, 2009.

On November 24, 2009, Rogers was blamed for the controversial incident happened in a state dinner of president Barrack Obama in which an uninvited couple Tareq and Michaele Salahi was able to enter. According to The Washington Post, details of the dinner planning meeting between Rogers’s office and Secret Service personnel are “being guarded by the Obama administration as a virtual state secret.

In the context of Rogers’s resignation, president Obama and his first lady Michelle Obama expressed his thanks to the contribution of Rogers from their days together in Chicago as she was able to organize more than 330 events in just a year. Obama and Michelle they did not think of any reason for Rogers’s leaving.

According to White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, the decision to leave the White House of Desiree Rogers may not be influenced by the controversy over the state dinner last year. Gibbs said that the reason for her departure was that it was time she decided to back to do things he loved.

Weeks after the “crew-up”, president Obama still felt sad about people involved in the incident and hoped that such thing will not happen again. After reviewing the incident, the White House passed by a decision of stationing staff at its security checkpoints to identify guests.

The secretary told the Chicago Sun-Times on Friday that her reason was that she had successfully met the major goal of president Obama: turning the White House into the “people’s house” by opening it up to many of those who normally do not get to visit.

Rogers, 50, said that she may come back to work in the corporate world. Before entering the administration, she had worked at AT&T and a gas and utilities company with an MBA degree.

The decision of departure, as White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, was informed to Obama at the beginning of 2010.
