MyWi – iPhone tweak for HotSpot Tethering

Sharing your internet connection with another device is quite useful and can be real lifesaver when you find yourself without a Wi-Fi connection.

MyWi is one of the best ways to get tethering on your iPhone. It creates iPad or iPhone WiFi Hotspot to connect mutiple laptops or mobile devices to share your iPhone/iPad’s internet connection. The process of sharing your internet connection is so easy that anyone with minimal tech skills can make it happen. However, it’s not the cheapest tweak on Cydia but it’s reasonable keeping in mind the cost of monthly tethering plan offered by carriers.

To install MyWi, search for ‘MyWi’ in Cydia. Download the latest version, i.e. MyWi 6.0.

(Cost of the app is $19.99, however there is trial version available which you can grab before going for the paid one. Also, MyWi 4 and MyWi 5 owners may upgrade to MyWi 6.0 for $4.99 only)

So, how can you tether your phone? There are 4 ways to tether your iPhone:

Tethering through Wi-Fi – This turn your iPhone into a mobile hotspot. Once it’s enabled, other devices such as laptops with Wi-Fi connection can see your iPhone and connect to it. While enabling this option from the app, you may choose it to be password protected or open. (in case of open, anyone can connect to it within range that’s why password protected is recommended).

Tethering through USB – Simply enable it from the app and plug your iPhone into your computer. Using this way you can stop unauthorized people connecting to your device. It will also keep your phone charged.

Tethering through Blutooth – Simply turn on bluetooth and pair your iPhone with other device and you will on internet.

Tethering through MyWi OnDemand – This is designed specifically for pairing iPhone and iPad. Whenever you iPad wants to connect, it automatically opens the connection with your iPhone and shares the internet. You need to spend $5.00 more to get it activated

Not only this, there are some other cool features in MyWi which will help making up your mind to go for this. These are:
