iPhone 5 Is Here
iPhone 5 Is Here. Everyone waited so long to see the actual device, and last night, the whole world witnessed the iPhone 5. It’s 70% similar to what was said in the rumors and leaks. There’s a design makeover, and hefty new features. Here you’ll get to know the full details about this device.
The first thing to notice is the design. The overall shape reminds you of the iPhone 4S/ 4 with the metal band. The front and back is flat. However, the display size has increased and the back is made of aluminum + glass.
The phone comes with a 4” Retina display widescreen resolution of 1136 x 640. The pixel density goes up to 326PPI. The apps are likely to show more content on the taller display. This will be benefiting the apps, and especially . The widescreen experience will go down well with the users. The headphone jack is now at a different place then before, at the bottom of the device. However, the width is similar to the iPhone 4/ 4S.
The previous versions were light and thinner. But the iPhone 5 is thinner and lighter. The weight of the phone is just 112 grams, which is 20% less than the iPhone 4S. This makes it the thinnest smartphone available with a depth of only 7.6mm. The back-plate of the device is two-toned. A glass is placed at the very top and bottom. Rest of it is all metal. The non-Gorilla-Glass of the previous model was a problem, so this is a good implementation.
The Home button is at a similar place, below the screen. The Volume buttons are on the left, and the mute/un-mute switch is on the left as well. There are three microphones. One at the back, one at the bottom, and one is at the front. The bottom one provides good sound quality along with better noise cancellation.
Compared to previous iPhones, the display features integrated touch technology and has 44% more color saturation. Tis means the display and the touch sensors have been combined. This makes the display the most advanced up till this date.
The iPhone 5 comes with 4G LTE. This means improved streaming of heavier content like high quality audio streams and HD videos. Samsung plans to sue Apple over this introduction, but they better watch out as they have suffered a loss already.
42Mbps is the speed if HSPA+ In the iPhone 4S, but LTE is a big thing for the iPhone 5, and the speed goes up to 100Mbps. Now everything is going to happen with the speed of lightning.
Two bands are now supported by the Wi-Fi, 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. This means dropped signals won’t be an issue on the local Wi-Fi router. That’s good news.
The iPhone 5 comes with an A6 processor, which is 2 times faster than the A5 chip, so apps and everything else are going to load quicker. More will be found on the speed when there’s a benchmark done with the Android competitors. The speaker has reduced in size by 20%. The earpiece includes support for noise cancellation for a better voice call experience. Apart from that, you can now hear frequencies which were not possible on previous iPhone models with the introduction of Wideband audio. The lower and higher frequency sound bids are now better audible when engaged in a voice call.
The camera gets precision lens alignment, low light mode, and sapphire crystal. As a result, the images are of greater quality, while the 8-megapixels image resolution remains intact. The front-camera can now do 720p, and is no longer a VGA.
The camera comes with Panorama mode, so wide landscapes can be captured with ease. It also saves the image at 28-megapixels resolution.
The battery is improved, and can survive up to 8 hours on LTE. This is far greater than what the competitors are offering.
This was the much hyped rumor, which became true. ‘Lightning’ is the name of the new dock connector, which is the right choice as the speed it offers is pretty fast. It is 80% less in size than the previous 30-pin connector. It comes with an adaptive interface, is more durable, and the device can be connected with it in any orientation.
Apple is offering a dock connector converter for the iPhone 5. This goes by the name ‘Lightning to 30-pin Adapter’. This will allow users to use older iDevice accessories with the new hardware. Apart from cases and sleeves, all older accessories are compatible with the new model. The only new accessory is the Earpods. They have replaced the conventional iPhone 5 headphones. They fit in nicely into the years, and are made of plastic.
The new Nano-SIM standard has been introduced by the iPhone 5. The Nano-SIM is completely different than the Micro-SIM, and hence cutting your regular SIM won’t do the job. A new SIM card has to be bought from the network carrier, which is compatible with the iPhone 5.
Three prices are $199, $299 and $399 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models respectively. There’s a two-year contract from Sprint, AT&T and Verizon. The two conventional colors are black and white.
