Ultrasn0w is a cydia tweak that is used to software-unlock iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 on certain compatible basebands. A baseband is chip inside iPhone on which radio signals work and we receive service from our operator. Following are the basebands that ultrasn0w can unlock:
iPhone 4 baseband: 1.59.00
iPhone 3G, 3GS basebands: 4.26.08, 5.11.07, 5.12.01, 5.13.04 and 6.15.00
Ultrasn0w requires a jailbroken iPhone, that means if you want to software unlock your iPhone on those compatible basebands, you will first need to jailbreak it either using Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze.
How to unlock iPhone using ultrasn0w:
1. Jailbreak your device
2. Check baseband of your iPhone if it is compatible or not by going to Settings >> General >> About >> Modem Firmware.
3. Open up Cydia, search for ultrasn0w and install it.
After ultrasn0w has been successfully installed, reboot your device to get it fully unlocked on your preferred carrier.
