Finally! Absinthe 2.0 has been released and you can now jailbreak your iPad 2 running iOS 5.1.1. Not only the iPad 2, you can also jailbreak all other iOs devices on 5.1.1 but in this tutorial I will be using my iPad 2. You can use this tutorial to jailbreak other devices running 5.1.1 as well.
Before doing anything, make a backup of our device using iTunes. Connect your device with computer and run iTunes. Right click on your devices' name on the left and choose 'Backup'. So lets move on to the tutorial. Your iPad 2 or any other device you are using must be running iOs 5.1.1. If you haven't updated it already, simply go to Settings >> General >> Software Update.
You can also update your device to 5.1.1 using iTunes. Just connect it with computer and run iTunes. You will be automatically notified that a new iOS version 5.1.1 is available for your device. Hit Download and Update.
Moreover, you can also download iOS 5.1.1 IPSW file for your iPad 2 and restore it manually using iTunes. As by now, all models of iPad 2 are supported except iPad2,4. But support for it will be added later on, said chronic dev team.
If you are already on iOS 5.1.1 and have a lot of data inside your device, it may take much longer to jailbreak your device so it is suggested that you go to Settings >> General >> Reset >> Reset all content and settings. Make sure you backup your device before doing this.
All set? Let's do it.
Download Absinthe 2.0.4 for your preferred platform. I will be using Windows in this tutorial. After downloading Absinthe, extract it somewhere on your hard drive and run it. Make sure you run absinthe.exe by right clicking on it and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
Make sure your device is connected, simply click on Jailbreak button and leave the rest to Absinthe. It will jailbreak your device in 2-3 minutes depending on how much data you have on your device. During the process, do not interact with your device until you see 'Done, enjoy!'
That's all folks. If you are experiencing any problems, let me know in the comments section below.
